Kindergarten

Pre-school Registration Information

Sacred Heart offers a three-year-old (on Tuesday and Thursday mornings) and a four-year-old (on Monday, Wednesday and Friday; morning and afternoon sessions) Pre-school program. It is Faith and literacy based. Our instructor is Emily Whalen and you can register at any point of the year.

Fee Structure:

3/4 Program 2 hours/day 3 mornings per month $50
4/5 rogram 21/2 hours/day 3 mornings/afternoon per month $70

On average there are 11 preschool days/month (exception Dec. April)

3/4 program has 22 hours of instruction/month 50 divided 22= $2.27/hour
4/5 program has 27.5 hours of instruction/month 70 divided 27.5= $2.54/hour

Kindergarten

At Sacred Heart, we are proud to offer a rich literacy and numeracy experience to our beginning students. We have the highest number of instructional hours in the Wetaskiwin area. Where all schools are funded for a half-time Kindergarten program, or 475 hours/year, we have 594 instructional hours.

This extended program is achieved with the following formula. Students attend mornings 8:40 to 12:03 Tuesday through Friday up until the Easter break. After Easter, our ECS students attend Monday through Friday for full days. This accomplishes two things: 1) The ECS teacher now has significantly more time to ensure the students have the beginning grade one skills, and 2) The students themselves build up their endurance and are prepared both mentally and physically for the rigors of grade one.
