A Proud School
The admin team and staff are working innovatively and creatively to make this the best school possible. Here are some things to brag to your associates about:
- Sacred Heart has a new 3-year-old and 4-year-old Pre-school program in Wetaskiwin.
- Sacred Heart has the most kindergarten hours in Wetaskiwin. (593 hours/year compared to the standard 450)
- Sacred Heart has French as a Second Language in grades 1 to 3.
- Sacred Heart has the number one junior high athletic program in Wetaskiwin with 15 league championships, 11 of those in the Premiere division.
- Arguably the top drama program in the area with travelling shows, and teachers who are in demand to do drama workshops for other schools.
- Our school has the largest music program in Wetaskiwin with both choral and band, guitar option, in house private music lessons, and our own recording studio.
- Our media/drama program won a provincial award for a video created for the Student Transportation Association of Alberta.
- Wetaskiwin’s only school based dance program.
- Wetaskiwin’s only Hockey Academy program.
- Our grade 9 Math program has consistently exceeded the Provincial standards in acceptability and excellence, and recently ranked nationally.
The school division as gone so far as to hire the services of a marketing advisor to help us get the message out as to how good our schools are, and how high our student achievement is. But the word of mouth in any small community will be more powerful than any ad campaign.
In Mark : 4, Jesus tells the parable of The Sower who scatters seeds along a path, some falling in the rocks, some choked by weeds, and some is gobbled up by birds. But where the seeds took root it produced 100 fold. As an analogy to this parable, some of our positive comments and deeds may fall into the rocks, or get choked out by negative influences. But seed we must! For where the seeds grow, we will have many people spreading the knowledge of how great OUR school, Sacred Heart School, really is.
